If your child develops a cavity, seeking prompt treatment is essential to prevent further decay and damage. At Fox Pediatric Dentistry, we use minimally invasive restorative dentistry techniques to tackle tooth decay.

Minimally Invasive Treatment

SDF stands for silver diamine fluoride. A silver and fluoride-based liquid that is applied on the surfaces of teeth with a cavity. SDF fights cavities through the antimicrobial property of silver and the tooth-strengthening property of fluoride, leaving a dark stain on the targeted surface.
ART stands for Atraumatic Restorative Technique. ART is a dental filling for smaller sized cavity that does not require the use of drills and local anesthetic.
SMART stands for Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique, which combines SDF and ART in stepwise fashion for moderate sized cavities.
Placement of a white crown without removing the cavity. The goal here is to protect the tooth from bacteria and food debris from the further breakdown of the tooth. This technique is selective for the front teeth only.
Placement of a silver crown without removing the cavity. The goal here is to protect the tooth from bacteria and food debris from the further breakdown of the tooth. This technique is selective for the back molar teeth only.

The selective removal of tooth structure to create spaces allowing greater cleansibility between adjacent teeth to either prevent, stop, or slow the progression of cavities.
